The Cuyahoga Heights school district is suing to get back more than $4 million that a state audit said was stolen by Joseph Palazzo, the district’s former technology director. The civil suit, filed Tuesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, targets Palazzo, his brother Dominick and 22 other businesses and individuals. “This is the initial step in trying to recover the money that was stolen, based in part on the auditor’s findings,” said Andrew Kabat, the district’s attorney. “But I don’t think our work is done by any stretch of the imagination.” Kabat said the district had 120 days from the Oct. 8 release of the audit to begin civil action.
